NPS
The National Pension System (NPS) is a government-regulated, long-term retirement savings product. You choose an allocation across equity, corporate debt, and government bond funds, and the corpus builds until retirement, when part of it must be used to purchase an annuity (a regular pension income) and the rest can typically be withdrawn.
NPS carries its own tax benefit under Section 80CCD, separate from and in addition to the regular 80C limit, making it a distinct lever for retirement-focused tax planning rather than a substitute for ELSS or other 80C options.
Who this is typically for
→Anyone building a dedicated, long-term retirement corpus
→Investors who've maxed their 80C limit and want an additional 80CCD deduction
