Goal-Based Planning
Goal-based planning starts from a specific target — a house down payment, a wedding, a child's education, a retirement corpus — and works backward to figure out how much you need to save, in what kind of fund, and for how long, to reach it by the date you need it.
The right mix of equity and debt funds depends heavily on how far away the goal is: a goal 10+ years out can typically absorb more equity risk than one just 2-3 years away, where capital preservation matters more than growth.
Who this is typically for
→Anyone saving toward a specific future expense with a rough target date
